Horses should be able to swap to/from flat/SC racing as they like during their career, rather than have SC be a one-way track for horses.
In order to swap in any \"direction\" (flat -> SC or SC -> flat), you would need to go in and do something active, like click a button saying \"swap my horse\". Then, you would need to do something with your horse to prep it for racing in its new discipline. (Since, even if a horse were to swap, it wouldn\'t race in a jump race on Wednesday and then a flat race on Saturday, especially if it hadn\'t run on the flat in months/years.)

How to reproduce
Tentative plan:
Try out jumps option:
1. Each flat racer will have a limited number of jump attempts (say, 3). Without officially swapping to steeplechasing, the horse could use up those 3 trials to do a jump workout and see how he does. This would only be an option for horses who have never run in a jump race or officially swapped to SC.
Swap to SC:
1. Horses must have 5+ workouts over fences before they\'re eligible to enter a SC race
2. Horses must have at least a 3 week break between their last flat race and their first SC race
3. Horses may lose a decent amount of fitness doing the swap (which would be recovered in the 5 workouts)
4. There would be a fee (say, $100) to swap a single horse
Swap to flat:
1. Horses must have 3+ workouts NOT over fences before they\'re eligible to enter a flat race
2. Horses must have at least a 3 week break between their last SC race and their first flat race
3. Horses may lose a decent amount of fitness doing the swap (which would be recovered in the 3 workouts, and would be significantly less than the flat -> SC swap)
4. There would be a fee (say, $100) to swap a single horse
The $100 fee to swap would represent the time/effort it would cost to find a new jockey, and (hopefully) prevent people from switching their horses every 3 weeks on a whim.
